“reputation” by Taylor Swift

“I’m sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, ’cause she’s dead.” Taylor Swift has returned to the music scene with a bang. She is discovering new sounds and new writing style. She has buried the hatchets, she’s got reputation, she’s got enemies and she knows what people talk about her. And yet again, she’s shake all of ’em off. Cited as her dark era, reputation has shadiness and Swift’s new dark sound as in “I Did Something Bad” and “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” and also has sweetness and vivid imagery as in “New Year’s Day”. Being a Swiftie, you can expect nothing less but to appreciate my queen. (don’t @ me).

“…Ready for It?”

Taylor is rapping here!! This is not a drill. I’m so into this new Taylor. It has luscious production and lyrics. The song is about finding your partner in crime. ‘Me I was a robber first time that he saw me/Stealing hearts and running off and never saying sorry’ –Taylor sings. When the bass drops and I heard, “Baby, let the games begin / Let the games begin,” I felt a Rocky-level rush of adrenaline. Taylor continuing her tradition of perfect album openers here!

“End Game ft. Ed Sheeran and Future”

This song is what Future sings on the verse “So Dope”! I feel like this song is “Shake It Off” on crack. Lyrics are beautiful. She’s got reputation. She’s got enemies and she knows what people talk about her. “I swear I don’t love the drama, it loves me” Taylor fires back. Ed Sheeran and Future’s part is the highlight of the song. End ‘em all girl!

“I Did Something Bad”

This song is a major bop. It explores Swift’s new trap and dark sound in the reputation era. Similar to Taylor’s 2014 “Blank Space”, it plays on the media and publics perception of her, with her singing as the character they portray her as. The keys are so perfectly played. And beats are catchy as hell. ‘It just felt so good, good!’

 “Don’t Blame Me”

This song is Hozier-meets-Taylor. It is midtempo synthpop track, Taylor employs a metaphor of drug use to depict to the truly addictive love of a partner. By saying his touch is the “trip of [her] life,” she’s suggesting something exquisite and unique from him that cannot be replicated. The use of choirs is good. This song is different and great but I’m not sold on this one. ((But probably cut to me in a week jamming out to this nonstop. Who knows.)

This gentle bop is one of my favorite songs on album. Being one of the emotionally perfect songs on the album, it perfectly captures both the flirtation and anxiety of the early stages of a relationship, when you’re unsure how you should be feeling, what you should be saying. It gives me Queen Carly Rae Jepsen vibes. Coincidentally, “Delicate” follows Taylor’s pattern of the 5th song of her albums being “emotional vulnerable” ballads.

“Look What You Made Me Do”

It was the lead single from album and it wasn’t taken well by critics. Taylor was bashed for choice of lead single. But I think it  is the exact song Taylor needed to release in that moment as the first single. This was necessary. It created buzz. It got people talking. It debuted at no. 1. Made and broke several records including music video breaking record for most views ever in 24 hours with 43.2 million views. The lyrics may not weak but the melody is catchiest one on the album. It is a rendition of “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred!

“So It Goes…”

It get a little boring here. Outro is great but the rest of it is just “meh”. Lyrics and production is clever. The title could be symbolic to Swift’s reputation album as a whole, since she has said in the previous track the Old Taylor is dead. This album is her transition into the “new” Taylor – so it goes. Also, “scratches down your back now”? Damn, Tay.

This was the first release from ‘reputation’ that I was totally obsessed with. Lyrics describes a fully intoxicating infatuation in the form of unrequited love. The man in Taylor’s attention is so impossibly attractive, she feels compelled to be with him. It’s sweet. It’s shady. It’s perfect. Also, the *ding* is just everything. And the baby’s voice in the start is James Reynolds – Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s daughter.

“Getaway Car”

Wait, for a moment I thought that I had accidentally clicked on one of Lorde’s track. This is so Lorde-ish but it is just pure and perfect. This song, these lyrics, Taylor’s voice – she’s a genius. It’s about trying to hide your love for its own good, but the secrets end up tearing you apart. The feels! Also, the key change and Outro!!

“King of My Heart”

The lyrics are beautiful. The brigde is one of the best on whole album. Melody is not one of my favorite tho. “Is this the end of all the endings/My broken bones are mending” is my fave lyric. I can feel a lot of Instagram captions coming from this track.

“Dancing With Our Hands Tied”

I love the way Taylor sings in a different style here which is not present much in her previous records. The song has house music vibes and heavy beat drops. I literally had goosebumps when she hit high notes in the end – first time ever in her music. Also “I’m a mess but a mess that you wanted” is just perfect.

It was described by critics as Swift’s “sexiest song to date” and bringing out her sensual side at last. Aside from it, it is a lowkey love song. Melodically, it is not my favorite.

“This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”

This is my favorite one so far. On this lighthearted, anthemic, and almost comical track Taylor Swift throws some major shade at all the haters – totally referencing the Kanye West furore here. The shade is so strong and song is so catchy. It’s a perfect anthem. And the ~cackle~ is best damn part. I can’t describe the cackle in words –go listen it yourself. Also, the fact that mom Andrea Swift is in on the drama, amazing.

“Call It What You Want”

This is carefree Taylor here. You can genuinely feel that she is happy and satisfied. The lyrics are about being brought back to life by someone new after heartbreak. I stan happy, in-love Taylor!

“New Year’s Day”

This the ballad that I wanted. This is purely soft and sweet, it gets me everytime. Taylor and an instrument. Raw vocals. Vivid imagery. Story telling. It’s just amazing. “Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you” –lyrically and sonically perfect. A perfect, gorgeous and simple ending.

Exclusive! Tête-à-Tête with Soccer Fame Lance Parker

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” – words to live by, right!

As a young man, Lance knew what he wanted to be, “My dream was always to be a professional soccer player.” he says. Chasing his dream, he climbed the mountain and reached the apex.

Parker started playing for Missouri State University. Parker was signed by Major League Soccer (MLS) club Chivas USA in 2008. He made his professional debut on July 13, 2008, in the North American SuperLiga, an international soccer competition which pitted MLS teams against international clubs. In February 2011, Parker signed with expansion side FC Edmonton of the NASL. In 2013, Parker put together his first complete season for FC Edmonton, appearing in 20 of the club’s 26 matches.

Soccer isn’t the only talent that Parker has, he also has a successful modelling career. After being approached by an industry executive in the airport while on the way to a game, Parker was soon signed with his first modeling agency and booking jobs regularly. e has graced the covers of 5 magazines and has been featured in Vogue Hommes, GQ, Men’s Health, Cosmopolitan, and Ocean Drive, just to name a few.

He is also a certified Nutritionist and a fitness trainer.

I was absolutely flattered to get a chance to interview him. Without further ado, read on what this multi-talented hunk has to say about his career, fitness and get some amazing tips!

• Describe yourself in three sentences.

I am constantly engaged with increasing my knowledge and improving my skill sets in all different areas of life. I love to adventure and experience new things and different parts of the world. I believe that our time and our health are the two most important thing we have in life, and I always try to make the most of each.

• How would you describe your philosophy about being fit and healthy?

Everybody has a different idea of what being “fit and healthy” is. I think it’s incredibly important to maintain balance in these areas in addition to every other area of your life. Rest is just as important and work, and quality sleep is just as important as consistent daily activity. Finding a good balance for what works for specifically for you is the healthiest thing you can do.

• What are your favorite cheat meals?

My favorite “off-plan” meals include chicken and waffles with sweet potato tots, pizza, and all different types of baked goods including cookies, donuts, and apple pie.

What are best tips for someone to look good and get ripped?

Looking good and getting ripped aren’t necessarily the same things. Looking good is all relative, and I encourage people to take pride in the way they look and feel confident in who they are. Many people can become obsessed with “looking good” and no matter how “ripped” they get, if they don’t love themselves and are comfortable in their own skin, they will never reach that goal and always be disappointed, no matter how healthy and in shape they are.

Imagine a client is discouraged during a training session. How do you keep him motivated?

If someone is discouraged, a great way to help motivate them is to remind them of their “why.” Everyone has goals, and if you dive down to a really deep level, you’ll come to a point where you uncover their true “why” behind the reason they want something. If you have a strong enough “why” that will always be enough motivation to get you through whatever it is.

• What diet and nutrition education have you received?

I am a Certified Nutritionist through Venice Nutrition, the IBNFC. I don’t coach people to follow some fad diet that will work for a moment in time but eventually fail them. I educate people on the science behind what happens to your body when you fuel it correctly. Without this knowledge, people are not able to take on a proper nutrition plan and make this healthy lifestyle shift a permanent way of life. Once they have a good understanding of how their body works they will be able to succeed with this.

How did you started as a fitness trainer?

I was a professional soccer player for 7 years, so I learned a lot in terms of exercise and training during that time. Since retiring from soccer, I have really dived into sports science and became a Certified Personal Trainer with the NFPA.

What are you future goals, dreams and plans?

I absolutely love the outdoors, so I would love to eventually end up out west somewhere in or close to the mountains.

Your favorite quote?

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” I credit much of my success this far in life due to the fact that I will never be out-worked in any aspect of my life. I haven’t always been the most skilled at things, but my work ethic has brought a lot of success.

Do you have a fitness goal for yourself? If so, what is it?

Currently, I’m trying to really improve my rock climbing. Along with developing better skills and climbing technique, I know I need to work on increasing my strength while decreasing my overall weight. It’s not the easiest thing to accomplish, but I know it’s doable. Having a greater strength-to-weight ratio will really help with this sport.

Any three essential exercises that you suggest?

If I could only do 3 exercises for the rest of my life, they would be push-ups, pull-ups, and sprints. Within each of those exercises are so many different variations that you can do to continue to improve your strength, power, speed, endurance, agility, etc.

Last but not least, any message to readers?

Thank you for reading this far! If you have any specific questions for me, don’t hesitate to reach out to me and ask! 😀 You can learn more about what I do at Parker Peak Performance and follow my day-to-day activities on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook by following @lanceAparker.

Hadiqa Kiani’s Wajd – Her New Chapter

“Wajd is a fruit of my spiritual voyage. Like they say, there is the calm before the storm; it took me a long time to find myself and be honest enough to my music and produce something like Wajd.”

Hadiqa Kiani is one of the most versatile and finest music acts of Pakistan. After years of giving us catchiest pop music, Hadiqa returns with a new spiritual act and shows more ‘personal’ side of her in her latest project ‘Wajd’ . Wajd is culture rich. It features songs in six different languages Urdu, Sindhi, Saraiki, Pashto, Balochi and Punjabi and surely she has exceled and slayed in every single piece.  Hadiqa has always been defiant with her music style, crossing the musical boundaries and coming up with something diverse, unique and realistic. This is Hadiqa’s ambitious and personally  honest work. Wajd that Hadiqa describes as “an expression of her soul and the result of her perception that is deeply rooted in and empowered by Sufi tradition” has a perfect and well use of classical instrument.

Wajd-Volume-1-Chapter-2-Bhit-Ja-Bhitai-F-10-1Wajd will have eight songs, out of which five have been released. The released ones have already hit the charts and topped on Patari, earning millions of views on social media. Wajd has already caused a huge sensation on Social Media and Kiani is being applauded for gracefully pulling off the ‘folk music’ and giving it a 21st century touch.

Each of the song is called as a ‘Chapter’ by Kiani. The video is conceptualized and directed by Abdullah Haris. She produced the record with her brother Irfan Kiani.

‘Kamle Da Dhola’ is the first chapter off Wajd. The video was shot in one take live format. Kiani sings in Saraiki. The songs has been sung by Reshma and Mussart Nazir. Hadiqa’s rendition is soulful and nonmaterial. Kiani’s vocals are ameliorable. The song runs for more than 8 minutes. Melody is pure and sweet. Opening words are written by Baba Bulleh Shah. Kiani’s high notes are rare and bewitching. Featured instruments are Dholak, Flute, Harmonium and Turkish lavta.

Next chapter is the Sindhi one, ’Bhit Ja Bhitai´, which pays tribute to Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai. It is again soulful and calming. Again Kiani’s vocals are dominating here. The endearment classical music is pure perfection. The use of flute here is soothing.

Third chapter is ‘Aaj Rung Hai’ in both Urdu and Biraj Bhasha. Biraj Bhasha is a western Hindi language. It gained literary acceptance after Mughal King Akbar declared it as one of the languages of royal court. It was originally written by renowned poet Hazrat Amir Khusro. The music video is like icing on the cake. It features Hania Amir and Hasnain Lehri. It is mesmerizing. Every single detail in the embolished video is literal perfection. Music video was a sponsored video for Bonanza’s Eid collection.206067_1_110357_mag

The fourth chapter ‘Kamli’ written by Bulleh Shah. It is also profound and vehment. Vocals will give you goosebumps.

Fifth chapter is ‘Chaap Tilak’. Hadiqa’s rendition is beyond epic. The music video is set in Iconic Haveli Barood Khana in Lahore. The music video is culture rich, featuring a traditional wedding featuring Hasnain Lehri as groom and Anoushey Mughal as bride. It is refreshing and impeccable. It has all the elements that make it perfect; Melodious Vocals, Manigolds, Mehndi, Food, Wedding Fun and Perfection.

I just can’t get enough of every song. I’m already yearning for the next chapter and surely Hadiqa will slay in upcoming ones too.

She said speaking about Wajd:

“WAJD is not only an audio album but a musical journey that aims to explore lost traditions, the freedom of ownership of the Eastern folk tradition, the individuality of each artist and instrument-free from the superficial and over-processing of digital recording and the stripping away of grandiose arrangements to reveal a simple layer of musical truth.”

“Melodrama” by Lorde

This is grown up Lorde. Four years after the release of her ground-breaking album Pure Heroine as a teenager, Lorde’s return with Melodrama is beyond epic. Melodrama has a theme of solitude, about her relationships, struggle with fame, mood changes and about her being an adult and a grown up woman now.

Melodrama was released on June 16. It debuted at number one in United Sates, New Zealand, Australia and Canada. The album got a high MetaScore of 93/100 making it one of the greatest albums of all times.

Green light – The opening song gives you all vibes of the new adult Lorde. Lorde starts singing with piano and then drum kicks and upbeat piano loops accompy Lorde vocals. Forbes decribed the tune as ‘power pop’. Lorde described the song as complex and funny. I’m obsessed with this song. It’ll surely make you dance on your own.

Sober- It is the most catchiest and coolest song on the album. The chorus will give you goosebumps. It is pretty intoxicating, having electro R&B. “Sober” is about “being a little bit involved with someone and it’s magic when you are out — you’re just king and queen of the weekend, you own the party.” “We’re King and Queen of the weekend /Ain’t a pill that could touch our rush” Lorde sings on the chorus.

Homemade Dynamite- This song is what you can call ‘modern pop’. “Homemade Dynamite” describes the moment when you meet someone at a party and an explosive night follows. This songs is ‘explosive’ and ultimate 2017 banger. It will remind you of ‘Royals’ and the music is complementary with it too. I just can’t stop listening to it.

The Louvre- Lorde decribed it as the song about the magic of the crush. It is about her relationship with her ex. The title of this song, “The Louvre,” references the iconic art museum in Paris, France; Lorde likens this happy period of their relationship to art, worthy of hanging in a museum, but now old. Lorde’s voice makes you feel like she’s sharing a secret. The guitar on the song is refreshing. The melody is similar to her song “Still Sane” from Pure Heroine.

Liability- This is a perfect ballad! It is a soft, down tempo, piano driven song. Lorde herself described the song as “a strange part of [herself] for a lot of people to look at.” They say, “You’re a little much for me, you’re a liability/You’re a little much for me” Lorde sings. Song-writing is just perfect and Lorde is being brutally honest here. This will literally make you cry.

Hard Feelings/Loveless- This is a fusion of two songs. ‘Hard Feelings’ is about Lorde’s breakup with her ex and ‘Loveless’ symbolizes her getting over her ex. “We’re L.O.V.E.L.E.S.S generation.” Lorde sings. The music is so catchy and cool especially in “Loveless” part. This is a pure banger. I will call it LIT.

Sober II (Melodrama)- This song is beautiful in its own. It has a little drum, deep brass and violin plays in the background. “They’ll talk about us, and discover/How we kissed and killed each other/We told you this was melodrama.” Lorde sings.

Writer in the Dark- This is the most lovable song on the album. Lorde sings about still loving her ex but managing to move on. You know Lorde’s songwriting is her greatest asset. This lyric are so deep and instense. “Bet you rue the day you kissed a writer in the dark/Now she’s gonna play and sing and lock you in her heart” Lorde sings. This is what you call perfection.

Supercut- You can c all it a ‘Green Lights’ sample. The music is similar to Green Lights. It has drum beats and piano similar to ‘Green Light’. The song is about Lorde dreaming of a positive relationship but then realizing the she’s her real relationship isn’t like that. One thing I love on the whole album are the slow-low fading vocals, almost on every song. They are slaying.

Liability(Reprise)- This is followup to Liability. The electronic tunes are similar to the opening of ‘Royals’. This is more comforting and incredible. Echoing sounds and background vocals at the end are just worth it.

Perfect Places- It is a good ending for an album. While listening to the song, it’ll remind you of “Team”. The music is pretty much similar to it especially the drum kicks. The lyics are bittersweet about teenage parties. Pre-chorus is awesome.

Melodrama is a roller-coaster ride of emotions. This is the album that you can say, will remain refresh as it is now even after 10 years!! You can call it colorful and radiant. Lorde has written it so coherently and perfectly that you will love every single word. She is being personal and honest as in ‘Liabililty’, “Hard Feelings/Loveless”, “Perfect Places”. All the songs are great, you can hardly choose the best. Lorde is surely what David Bowie said ‘the future of pop’. And this album is ‘Power Pop’.

1-“Santa Tell Me”

maxresdefault (9)

Ok! I know Problem is iconic and great. But this video always put a smile on my face. Ariana’s ponytail makes appearance. Scenario revolves around Ariana having fun around the house with her friends in silly animal ears and singing about Christmas love. This is a total holiday treat. Better call it a sweet winter slumber party! One of the greatest videos of all time. Fight me on this!!

I was born in Peshawar. I had my child hood in Islamabad. I had got married in very earlier age and did I not get the chance to complete my education. When I was a a child my mother used to question me that what would you like yo became when you grow up. And l always use to say a chef. I am very ambitious and dream follower. After getting married I had to decide that I will win the hearts by my cooking. I started learning how to cook by our local channels. I usually watched Chef Zakir’s shows and tried to replicate the dishes at home. I had also used to watch the other international channels for some different cuisine. From there I started to following Master Chef Australia.

Did your family support you in achieving your goals?

I am mother of 4 and we live in a joint family. All the family members are loving, caring and very supporting. When I was in Master kitchen for 3 months my family took care of my kids. Family was my biggest support and I could not had achieved my goals without their support. My husband have a big hand in supporting me.

What was the hardest part of being a Master Chef contestant?

I remember the day when we entered the kitchen, I was very excited and happy, but when I started cooking it was like a working under the time bomb… tic, tic, tic,…

Who was your favorite judge and why?

All the judges are good but  I used to follow Chef Zakir. He is my favorite chef because I like his cooking skills and he is the first chef I used to follow.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies are learning and reading different cuisines and about chefs lives. I also like to watch reality shows.

Biggest struggle you’ve ever faced?

I believe if you do not struggle and work hard, you will not be able to achieve anything. Struggle brings learning. I never get afraid of struggling. It’s a part of life, you just need to be focused!

How was your experience on “Master Kitchen with Ammara Noman”?

Master kitchen was the very first cooking show and I had a great experience. All the team was very supportive and specially Javeria Abbasi. In the beginning of recording, I was just scared that how would I manage to face so many cameras but with  every single day on sets I got confident.

Who is your inspiration?

I am inspired by many chefs because of their working skills and techniques but one I like to be is Gorden Ramsey.

If you had a dinner party for five, which five celebrities would you like to invite?

Hmm, there are so many!  Javeria Abbasi, Nadia Khan, Fawad Khan….and may be some Chef celebs.

Tell about your cookbook.

Health Talks With Daniel Churchill

Daniel Churchill is an Australian chef, TV host and an author of two cook-books DudeFood and The Healthy Cook. He was among the Top 5 contestants of Master Chef Australia ( season 5). At just 24, he has achieved a lot. Growing up on the Northern beaches of Sydney he loves the beach.

I recently got to interview Daniel, read on to know the young Aussie lad!

Tell about your educational background.

I went to Uni and did a Bachelor in Sport and Exercise Management before competing a Masters in Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning and Nutrition). From here I’ve continued to apply my study to holistic health, tastiness and color.

How did you get into cooking?

I started cooking when I was 12 years old and it all started because as a family we used to watch Jamie Oliver once a week. We didn’t watch a lot of TV but it was one of those awesome moments when we all discussed things about recipes and ideas. Dad came up with the idea of wanting us to learn the life skill of cooking and so he created a roster for us to take it in turns to cook for each other. My cooking adventures never started from someone showing me what to do, rather I was self taught. Looking at recipes working with flavors… I loved it and I loved what it created… it brought people closer together… I then decided to write my first self published cookbook and that’s when things in my food life started to do its thing(SMILE).

Any song you are addicted to?

Hmmmm I reckon.. oh! there are so many… I reckon “Happy by Pharrell William.

Tell about your first book DudeFood.

Dudefood was created on the back of my mates getting jealous that I was getting more attention from their special ladies than they were. As they always asked me about cooking. So i decided to be a good mate and send out recipes to them and get them started on the basics… from there realized i was putting a book together and wanted it to be super simple but have guy orientated scenarios so that it was not intimidating and easy to relate too, and so came the awesomeness that is Dudefood.

What was the idea behind The Healthy Cook?

The Healthy Cook is more about who I am… I love being active and eating. After my studies I wanted to create a cookbook that was simple, promotes the goodness in life and open up inspiration to many. The Healthy Cook is full of super simple, wickedly tasty, healthy home cooked meals and opens peoples eyes to the simplicity of creating something super tasty out of plenty of color. It is also an educational resource for people to learn from. With things from Breakfasts, vegetarian, meat, seafood and even Cheating it is an awesome way to get into the colorful way of food.

Any song you’re addicted to?

Hmm I reckon.. oh! there are so many… I reckon..! “Happy” by Pharrell William.

Who is your mentor?

I never worked directly with chefs. I am self taught. Mom and Dad supported but never really directed how we should cook. I am inspired by Jamie Oliver. He was the reason I started cooking.

How was life like a Master Chef Contestant?

Absolutely incredible! I got to see so much, do epic things and meet the most amazing inspiring people. I went on the show to learn and that is exactly what I did.. It has created a platform but I focused on making sure I created my own brand off the back of it.

Describe yourself in three words.

Happy, driven, food!

Best moment in your career so far.

There are so many. Perhaps launching “Dudefood” on Good Morning America in front of millions of people was pretty unreal. But there is also other things like being honored with an indigenous Australian community or even giving mum and dad my first ever self published cookbook.

What did you learn from your Master Chef experience?

I obviously learnt so much about food and camera angles, but also plenty about myself like what my strengths and weaknesses are., what I handle well and what I don’t. From there I was able to practice the things I need to work on so I can convey the message I want to create effectively today.

What kind of music do you listen?

Everything! from Kygo, Kanye West and Justin Bieber… name it! I love a good sing along!!

Which is your favorite book and why?

I grew up on Harry Potter  but lately I have been reading plenty of TED talk books they have been unreal learning about experiences and certain philosophies. One book I am stoked about is The Dorrito Effect by Mark Schatzker, it is an amazing inside into the evolution of food and flavor.

Would you ever like to visit Pakistan to experience our food, taste and flavors?

I would absolutely LOVE to come to Pakistan! I have read so much about your flavors and spices that it gives me chills just thinking about it….have to do another show or festival there for sure!!!

Last but not least, any message to readers and your fans.

I would like to thank all my legendary fans for being who they are and following the messages that i will continue to create and inspire… It is because of them that I get up every day and stay motivated to promote a happy healthy life. I am not doing this for me, but for everyone else in the world, so thank you for the the amazing support that you have all provided thus for and there is plenty of tastiness coming your way…
